What more can I say? Flat screen minimizes reflection. Have had this TV since January 2004 with no problems at all! Remote is well designed and stereo sound even has some bass to it.

A bit dated now, but… – Charlie Griffin –
I bought this TV about 4 or 5 years ago and just put it in my car to take to the recycle center. With the advent of LCD no one will be in the market for one of these, but maybe Toshiba is interested. The TV worked fine up until 2 weeks ago. I must say that it stayed on damn near 24/7 from June 2007 up until November of 2009. I was no longer working so the TV was my refuge. Anyway, one night I put on the sleep timer. The next morning I turned on the TV, nothing. Pushed all kinds of buttons, disconnected, reconnected, nothing. No power. It just died. I thought a life of only 4-5 years for a Toshiba was poor, but I guess 2 years of nonstop use was pushing it…

Luck of the Draw – A. Byro – Manhattan NYC
I shlepped this thing home and upon plugging it in found that there were large purple splotches in the corners and center of the screen which get worse and the unit warms. I know this has to do with the alignment of the beam, maybe a magnet nearby, whatever, but dunno what to do with it. Called Toshiba and was told it is my own tough luck. So I’ve owned it for about 2 years now. he purple splotches are annoying, but otherwise its a nice TV. Reading through the reviews here I see that essentially buying them is a crapshoot. They’re either really nice or real crap. And the likelihood of getting a lemon seems around 40% which isn’t too good. Look, if you’re looking for a TV, look for something you’re less likely to have come out a piece of rubbish. Or better yet- just get a new HDTV. It’s worth it, trust me.

Great Picture, Bad Reliability – J. Yatsko –
I’ve had this television since 2007. I bought mine at Sears. When I bought my first TV at Sears, it lasted for 6 days before it wouldn’t turn on anymore. I took it back and they gave me a new one. I also opted for an extended 3 warranty at that time since I already had trouble with the TV.

Almost 2 years go by and I am totally happy with the TV. Picture is awesome, internal speakers are decent.

At the beginning of 2009 the fan started to make loud noises. A tech came out and diagnosed the fan as bad. While waiting for a replacement fan to show up, the bulb got too hot and blew up. The fan and bulb were replaced.

About a month after the bulb and fan were replaced, there was no picture again. They sent me a new bulb, thinking that was the problem. But the TV still had no picture. A technician came out and diagnosed the whole light engine as bad. They took the light engine to be repaired since there weren’t parts for this TV anymore. A couple of weeks after that, they called me and told me that they couldn’t fix the light engine and would be giving me a replacement TV. I replaced this unit with a Panasonic.

All-in-all… If I did it over again, I would not buy this television and I would have spent a little more on something with a proven track record.

GARBAGE! – Jeremie Wells – Illinois
I have had this TV for a year now and it has a great picture and sound. This, however, does not make up for the the fact that Toshiba will not honor their warranty. My HDMI input went out at 9 months and the part is no longer available. Toshiba informed me that I had 3 options. 1) Leave the TV the way it is. 2) Buy my own part and fix it ( the part is still out there, but since it is not available at a Toshiba authorized company, they will not pay for it. 3) they will give me 0 for it. This is the second product that Toshiba has tried to screw me on.

Have had this TV almost 2 weeks. The picture is great, do not have the hd cable box hook-up as yet, but picture is still great. Fantastic for movies. The major setback is the sound. Listening to any music channels the bass must be turned off totally. The thumping sound is really bad when music is being played. I hope to get surround sound soon to take care of this problem. Another problem is the remote. Has a slide indicator on the side of the remote to switch to tv, cable, dvd etc….It is pretty hard to pick up the remote without accidentally changing this switch. Should have moved to the front of the remote. All in all pretty satisfied.

I bought this LCD TV last week, compare with the Sony 32SA10 so far I owned, this one is better than Sony’s. especailly by HDMI input, two inputs of component is convenient as well.

This is a bit late getting on here, but been meaning to put a review up. We purchased this 3 years ago in 2006, 3 years later, TV is still going strong, still beautiful picture. We are VERY HAPPY with this set, every time I see the picture I’m still amazed, can’t take eyes off it. Picture is very bright and clear, people still ask if it’s projection, as it is bright even in daylight, and has a small footprint. I think if you want HD, then get the biggest set you can, lets you see more detail. Too small a set and you won’t notice the difference. This set is perfect for our living room. We knew about having to change bulbs, we researched types before we bought. We did replace the bulb once, last year, so we got 2 years of HEAVY use from it. I would say to buy the original bulb (YMP-L66) from Toshiba if possible, avoid the cheaper ones. Toshiba was great and shipped us one no problem. We liked the upside to DLP’s over others at the time. When we bought ours, the flat panels still had a “screen door” look to me, the DLP was smooth. Also no worry about “burn-in”, so it is ideal for video games. We have Dishnetwork’s silver HD package. The HD channels are amazing, still try to breathe in the air when there’s an outdoors scene! We did a few thing right off, to protect it from our cats, as they still from time to time want to jump up on it. I bought a sheet of thin plexi-glass big enough to cover the whole front of the TV, and put several small pieces of velcro to hold in place, removable for cleaning. The plexi-glass gives a bit of a glare, but is hardly noticable, and a SMALL inconvenience for a BIG reassurance! Don’t have to worry about someone or something damaging the screen, great if you have kids, too. We also secured it to the wall behind, to keep from tipping off the glass stand. I used fishing line, and pieces of clear tape at the top corners, no problems, and barely noticeable. Again, cheap insurance. Also put some rubber non-slip chair cushion pads too, under each end, to keep it from sliding around on the stand. It’s very solid now. Only thing I’d change with the set, the cooling fan for the lamp will keep running after the set is off, seen other sets that had timers to shut it off after awhile. It does need to run awhile to cool the lamp though, don’t just unplug, or goodbye lamp! We just unplug it when we go to bed, or away. I can say without a doubt I am very happy with this set AND Toshiba, and would purchase the same set again with no hesitation if something happened to it.

Solid TV for the Money – Brian Seel –
As someone who has owned this TV for almost 2 years now, it is great. A way better investment than an LCD or plasma (would have had to be much smaller to get it for the same price).

To address some of the alleged negatives, let’s start with picture quality. It is great, noticed zero imperfections. BUT, given the size of the screen, you need to be sitting 15-20 feet back with a non-HD signal. If you are sitting 5 feet away, you don’t have enough room for a screen this size, regardless of brand. HD picture is phenomenal.

Second, those of you debating between 720p and 1080p should know that nobody is broadcasting in 720p. It may be an issue on Blu-Ray DVDs, but you are splitting hairs on picture quality at that point.
